Soojin Kang is an accomplished percussionist and timpanist from South Korea, known for her musical versatility and dynamic artistry. She currently holds the position of Associate Principal Percussionist with the Louisville Orchestra and performs regularly with several top-tier orchestras in the United States, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, where she serves as both a substitute timpanist and percussionist. She has also performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Santa Barbara Symphony, and Fresno Philharmonic. Prior to her U.S. engagements, she was Principal Timpanist of the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra in Korea. 

Soojin’s passion extends to solo and chamber music. She has performed as a soloist with the Pacific Symphony, Downey Symphony Orchestra, and others, and participated in the University of Southern California (USC)’s chamber and percussion ensemble programs, winning multiple scholarships and awards. Her summer festival appearances include the prestigious Tanglewood Music Festival, Verbier Music Festival, and National Repertory Orchestra Summer Festival. 

Soojin holds a Master’s Degree and Graduate Certificate from USC, where she studied on full scholarship and served as a teaching assistant under Los Angeles Philharmonic members Joseph Pereira and James Babor. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Seoul National University, also on full scholarship.
