Zack Rego
Regional Drumset Artist - United States


Zack Rego is a drummer from Portsmouth, Rhode Island. He gigs out, records in the studio, and teaches. In the fall of 2011 Zack will be attending Berklee College of Music.

He began drumming when he was very young, and started his first formal lessons at age 10 with Todd Salpietro. He also joined the Portsmouth Middle School Jazz Band at that time, under the direction of Ritchee Price. Three years later Zack was playing the local club scene with cover bands. Since then he has been involved with many different groups playing covers and original music. Throughout High School, Zack has been a member of the Portsmouth High School Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble and Pit Orchestra, directed by Ted Rausch.

Zack currently studies privately with Dick DiCenso at South Shore Music / DiCenso’s Drum Shop, and is a recording intern at Guilty Dog Studios with Joe Merrick. He also has had the privilege of studying with Berklee instructors Dave DiCenso and Kenwood Dennard.  Zack is now involved in several bands:

Scarlet: is an original band from the Newport, Rhode Island area. Their music is post-rock alternative. They have played at a multitude of venues in the Newport and Providence area. They have also played live on Brown University’sWBSR student radio and UMass Amherst’s WMUA student radio. Kelo Waves: is a five piece jazz combo. They play a blend of standards, contemporary jazz tunes and original compositions. They play in local clubs in the Newport, RI area and are competing in the 2011 Berklee High School Jazz Festival.
