Frisco ISD, TX
Michael Crawford currently serves as the Director of Percussion for Independence High School in Frisco, TX. In addition to his duties at IHS, Michael is the Drumline Instructor/Arranger for the Baylor University Drumline, Percussion Coordinator for the Baylor University Band and Orchestra Summer Camps, and the Editor-in-Chief of the Percussive Arts Society – Texas Chapter Newsletter.
Michael holds a Master of Music Performance degree from Baylor University and a Bachelor of Music degree with an All-Level Teaching Certification from Tarleton State University. His principal teachers include Todd Ukena, Joey Carter, and Dr. Todd Meehan.
Prior to joining the staff at Independence H.S., Michael served as Adjunct Lecturer of Percussion at Tarleton State University (2011-2014), Director of Percussion for Aledo ISD (2009-2011), and Director of Percussion for the Denton High School bands (2008-2009).
Michael has performed throughout the United States and Europe with the Waco Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and the 2002 Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps. Under his direction, the Baylor University Drumline has been a part of Baylor Football’s historic rise in national exposure, including two Big XII Championships, the 2014 Fiesta Bowl, the 2015 Cotton Bowl, and sharing the stage with “The Voice’s” Holly Tucker. He has also participated and presided over numerous clinics and showcase concerts at College Band Directors National Association, Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association conferences.
Michael currently resides in Denton, TX with his wonderfully supportive wife Fara and their two children Shae and Drew.
