What is it you like so much about playing Pearl Drums?
Its fantastic to be a part of such an incredible family, I've been a fan of Pearl since i first started playing drums, guys like Ian Paice and Chad Smith had a big influence on me when i first started out. The Reference Pure kit that I'm currently using sounds and looks fantastic. Its the nicest sounding kit I've played with incredible warm tones and resonance.
Which drummer/band influenced you most into playing drums?
Buddy Rich had a huge influence on me when i first started out he was truly a genius on the drums. But as a band i think it would have to be John Bonham. He was the powerhouse of Led Zeppelin and his drumming continues to have a massive influence on me.
What do you like most about being a drummer?
I love being a part of the groove of music, the engine room. Giving out so much energy in every performance feels fantastic, oh and of course....making lots of noise!!
What is the worst thing to happen to you during a show?
Years ago we used to set fire to one of my cymbals, it went wrong and we ended up setting fire to half the stage!
What do you practise and for how long?
We seem to be constantly on tour and so every gig I'm pushing myself and learning new things.
What is your best advice to a young player wanting to make it in this industry?
There seems to be no secret formula, you just have to keep playing, always try to better yourself and no matter what...keep the belief in your ability.
If you had the chance to play drums for another artist who would it be?
Led Zeppelin, or The Who !
