Amorphis
Overview
Jan Rechberger is the drummer and one of the founding members of the legendary Finnish metal group Amorphis, formed back in the year of 1989.
He actually started to play the drums when the band was found, and soon after they recorded their first demo tape “Disment Of Soul” which caught the attention of Relapse Records, and the American label was ready to sign the young band.
Soon after that they recorded their first self titled 7” vinyl (1991) The first full length album “Karelian Isthmus” was released in 1993, followed by their second album “Tales From The Thousand Lakes” in 1994, nowadays considered as an all-time classic in the worldwide metal scene.
After “Tales...” the band also played their first shows outside Finland, headlining tours in Europe as well as in the U.S.A.
Though shortly after that Jan left the band and focused on his studies on music production, engineering and mixing, however, continued to play the drums as a session drummer in many different groups of various styles...
He joined the band back in 2002. Ever since he is performing on all of their following gold selling releases starting from “Far From The Sun” (2003), “Eclipse” (2006), “Silent Waters” (2007),
“Skyforger” (2009), “Forging The Land Of Thousand Lakes”-DVD and double live CD package (2010), “Magic&Mayhem-Tales From The Early Years” (2010) and their latest effort “The Beginning Of Times” (2011).
The band is currently on tour supporting the new release, including festival shows as well as headlining tours in nearly all the continents of the world.
