Why does the Reference One shell recipe change depending on the component size?

To fully understand the Reference One Series, you must understand that the desired tonal characteristics of a 10" tom are completely different from that of a 22" bass drum. Using the same material in both drums would result in a compromise. Reference One Series drums use a combination of task-specific bearing edges and three types of wood: Birch, Maple, and African Mahogany. Click here for more information about the Reference One Series.
