Sijia Huang

Overview
Percussionist Sijia Huang is a member of Arx Duo, actively performing and premiering new works across the U.S. and internationally. As part of the duo, she participates in educational residencies, chamber music festivals, and cross-disciplinary collaborations that push the boundaries of contemporary percussion performance.
She has performed as principal percussionist with Symphony in C (New Jersey) and as a substitute with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. Her festival appearances include the Artosphere Festival Orchestra, Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Festival Napa Valley, and Brevard Music Center.
Sijia has appeared as a soloist with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra alongside The Percussion Collective, and toured Spain as a soloist with the Yale Concert Band. She also organized two tours of China with the Yale Percussion Group.
She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, studying with Svet Stoyanov and Joe Petrasek. Sijia holds degrees from the Yale School of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Robert van Sice, Don Liuzzi, and Eric Millstein. She was honored with the Avedis Zildjian Company Honorary Award in 2017.
