Overview

Neve van Boxsel is the drummer for Australian band Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers. Introduced to drums at age nine when she sat behind her Uncle’s Pearl kit, Neve became obsessed with the idea of forming a band. She joined school holiday music programs and began playing with other teenagers from the age of twelve and in 2015 watched School of Rock with her three best friends, and decided to form the band Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers. Since then, the band has garnered over seven million streams on Spotify, placed #55 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown, and are headed over to the UK and Europe to tour internationally.
One of Neve’s first experiences watching drums live was a drum workshop that came to her hometown, Canberra, in 2012. She remembers being so inspired, but looking around and seeing that she was the only non-male there. Noticing this at such a young age had an impact on her confidence as a drummer, and created a sense of alienation. But to now be part of the Pearl family, and be able to represent young non-male drummers is incredibly important to her and she hopes she can encourage young girls and non-males to feel inspired and encouraged to play drums.
