Giti Khalsa
Seven Mary Three
Overview
Giti Khalsa of Seven Mary Three, began his drumming experience in the fourth grade school band. He continued playing in school bands through high school and even spent a summer touring with the Garfield Cadets drum and bugle corps.
His plan to play in one of the Ohio State University Jazz ensembles was diverted by his concentration on getting into medical school. After an eventual transfer and subsequent graduation from the College of William and Mary in 1992, Giti began playing casually with friends Jason Ross and Jason Pollock while still making plans for medical school. A year later they added a bass player and were calling themselves Seven Mary Three. Due to the success of Seven Mary Three, it looks like medical school will just have to wait.
For those only familiar with Seven Mary Three from the hit "Cumbersome," they will be surprised by the band’s new direction on their latest 2008 release day&nightdriving. It’s an album about reconciling a career in a rock group with home life, and balancing commitments to band mates with those of family, in a highly personal, reflective, yet raw and honest work. Giti will be doing occassional tour dates with the band.
