Flavio Mezzodi, 1977 in Solothurn geboren, machte bei seinem Vater in jungen Jahren erste Gehversuche hinter dem Schlagzeug. Anschliessend besuchte er zwischen 1992 und 1996 in der Musikschule/Biberist bei Andy David erste Unterrichtsstunden. Der erste Erfolg liess nicht lange auf sich warten: Bereits 1994 trommelte sich Flavio beim Wasserämter Musikwettbewerb auf den ersten Rang. Bis heute wurden diversen Drum- Workshops/Masterclasses u.a. bei, Joe Travers & Dweezilla Bootcamp 2011/Zappa Plays Zappa, Peter Haas/Mekong Delta, Jacques-François Juskowiak,Olivier Lacau,Norbert Lehmann/Dante Agostini Drum School Paris, European Agostini Alpin Drumworkshop in Wengen/Switzerland, Klangserve 2009/Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz - Kantonales Kuratorium für Kulturförderung unter der Leitung von Herrn Daniel Ott & Prof. Dr.Hans Schneider besucht.

Während des Musikstudiums von 1998 bis 2004 an der Dante Agostini Drum School Paris resp. Niederlassung CH in Olten, Leitung von Herrn Norbert Lehmann. Liz. als diplomierter Schlagzeuglehrer D.E.A schliesslich mit Diplom - 1. Prix avec Félicitation - abschloss, ist er unter anderem seit 2000 an mehreren Musikschulen als Schlagzeuglehrer tätig.

Weiter wurden Drumclinics & Workshops mit Wim Dykstra (CH/NL) und Andy David (CH) durchgeführt, wie an der Musik Produktiv Messe Schweiz 2011 für Pearl Drums präsentiert.

Zu Flavios musikalischen Einflüssen zählen Neil Peart (Rush), Ian Paice (Deep Purple), Mike Portnoy (Ex-Dream Theater), Simon Philips (Toto), Terry Bozzio & Joe Travers (Frank Zappa/Zappa Plays Zappa), Steve Jordan (John Mayer), Vinnie Colaiuta (Sting) und Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree).

What is it you like so much about playing Pearl Drums?

The absolute amazing natural sound with the best innovative

hardware. Pearl Drums is not just a brand but philosophy in itself !

Which drummer/band influenced you most into playing drums?

In the early years maybe with 15 was Dream Theater (Mike Portnoy)

and Rush (Neil Peart) as well as Ian Paice from (Deep Purple) i remember very well

as if it was yesterday...a play and study all the “images and words” and “moving

picture” and “machine head” stuff... today inspire me drummer like Steve Jordan

(John Mayer), Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats,Steven Wilson), Vinnie Colaiuta

(Sting), Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) and Phil Rudd (AC/DC).

Who in your mind are the drummers of tomorrow, who has caught your eye?

I don't really know....it has very young talented drummer on this planet :-)

What do you like most about being a drummer?

The versatility.

What is the worst thing to happen to you during a show?

Unfortunately I broke two sticks in the same time...what a challenge :-)

What do you practice and for how long?

What is your best advice to a young player wanting to make it in this industry?

Faithful to yourself, go your way, have fun, believe in what you are doing.

If you had the chance to play drums for another artist who would it be?

AC/DC, Toto, Journey, Steve Lukather,Steven Wilson, Sting and many more :-)
