Overview

Dana Dominguez is a 25 year old percussionist from San Antonio, Texas. She discovered her passion for percussion at the age of 10 and continued to hone her skills by competing in prestigious events such as the Texas All-State auditions. Graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020, Dana showcased her talent with the renowned Wind Ensemble while earning coveted spots in festivals like the Round Top Summer Music Festival, Stellenbosch International Chamber Musical Festival, and the Texas Music Festival. In 2017, she made waves as a finalist in the open duo category at the Great Plains International Marimba Competition. Dana’s journey continued as she won the Principal Percussion position in the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra in Montana after her first professional orchestra audition in 2020. She further solidified her reputation by winning the Percussive Arts Society International Convention’s Mock audition in November 2021. Her summers were filled with performances at esteemed festivals like the Britt Music and Arts Festival in Oregon and the Classical Tahoe Academy in Nevada. Dana pursued her academic endeavors, earning a Master’s Degree in Music Performance from Rice University in 2023. Post-graduation, she enriched her experience at the Music Academy of the West and the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Arts. Currently, Dana serves as faculty at The Percussion Conservatory and the Ensemble Block. She has showcased her versatility as a substitute percussionist in renowned orchestras including the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra, the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, the San Antonio Philharmonic, and the Houston Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Dana Dominguez imparts her knowledge as a lecturer of Percussion at the University of Texas’ Butler School of Music.
