Dr. Roberto Palomeque is an internationally recognized marimbist, percussionist, educator, and researcher from Chiapas, Mexico. His artistry is deeply rooted in the traditions of Mexican music while drawing from classical, contemporary, jazz, and popular music. This distinctive artistic voice has established him as a versatile performer dedicated to expanding the expressive possibilities of percussion. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Palomeque has received numerous national and international honors. He won First Prize at Belgium's Universal Marimba Duo Competition (2013), First Prize at the Keiko Abe Latin America Marimba Solo Competition, where legendary marimbist Keiko Abe served as jury president, and First Prize at Mexico's 6th National Marimba Solo Competition (2010). In 2013, he was honored with the Young Talent Artistic Award by the Government of Mexico and later received the prestigious FONCA (National Endowment for Culture and the Arts) scholarship for his project, The Marimba's Development into the 21st Century, which included a concert and educational tour of universities and music schools throughout Mexico in 2018. 

As a soloist and chamber musician, Dr. Palomeque has presented concerts, recitals, master classes, and workshops throughout Argentina, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Panama, Portugal, Qatar, Spain, and the United States. He has performed with distinguished ensembles including the UNICACH Percussion Ensemble, Paax Percussion, Jatz Percussion Trio, Na'rimbo, and the Flanders Marimba Ensemble. 

His collaborative work has brought him together with many of the world's leading percussion artists, including Keiko Abe, Emmanuel Séjourné, Dave Samuels, Horacio Hernández, Ney Rosauro, Nanae Mimura, Ludwig Albert, David Friedman, Eriko Daimo, Zeferino Nandayapa, Takayoshi Yoshioka, John Wooton, Aly Keïta, Daniella Ganeva, Víctor Mendoza, Keiko Kotoku, Gabriela Jiménez, Lucid Duo, Tak-Nara, and numerous other internationally acclaimed musicians. 

An active educator and researcher, Dr. Palomeque has taught percussion students at every level. Since 2023, he has served as Director of Percussion Studies at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Before joining Concordia, he was on the faculty at the University of Sciences and Arts of Chiapas (UNICACH) in Mexico and served as a Teaching Assistant in Percussion at the University of Southern Mississippi while completing his doctoral studies (2020–2023). 

Dr. Palomeque holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from UNICACH University (Mexico), a Master of Music from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp (Belgium), and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is a performing artist and educator endorsed by Innovative Percussion and Zildjian Cymbals.
