Overview

Jeff Porcaro was born on April 1, 1954, in Hartford, CT, and rose to prominence as a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning band TOTO. His parts for their chart-topping hits like "Rosanna," "Africa," and "Hold the Line" solidified his status as one of the most respected drummers of the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Beyond his work with TOTO, Jeff's talents as a session musician were in high demand, leading him to collaborate with many monumental recordings, including Michael Jackson's 'Thriller,' where he played on the hit singles "Beat It," "Human Nature," and "The Girl Is Mine." His contributions can also be found on releases by Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Paul McCartney, and many others. Porcaro's ability to adapt his style to elevate each song he worked on showcased his deep knowledge and musicality.

Tragically, his life was cut short on August 5, 1992, at the age of 38, leaving behind an incredible musical legacy and an impact on the drumming community. Jeff's unique approach to drumming has solidified his place as one of the greatest drummers ever.
