Overview

Tommy has been playing drums since age 5, got his first drum kit at 6.  Started traveling and playing drums at the age of 12 and never looked back.

After moving to Nashville in 1991, Tommy immediately got a touring gig with Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, (with no audition! Thanks to the recommendation of legend Eddie Bayers).

Tommy toured with Ricky Skaggs for 3 years after that, and did tours with Lari White and Brady Seals.

When kids started coming, Tommy got off the road in 1996 to pursue full time studio recording.  That happened pretty quick and within a couple of years the schedule book was full.

Tommy has logged between 8000 to10,000 recording sessions with names like Dolly Parton, Zach Top, Waylon Jennings, Lee Brice, Justin Moore, Big and Rich, Kip Moore, Reba McEntire, Taylor Swift, Jessica Simpson, Billy Currington, Johnny Mathis, James Otto, and has played on number ones such as ‘Hard to Love’ (Lee Brice), ‘Beer Money’ (Kip Moore), ‘Girl I just got Started Loving You’ (James Otto), ‘Lost in this Moment’ (Big and Rich), ‘If Heaven Weren’t So Far Away’ and Small Town USA’ (Justin Moore), ‘Cowboys and Angels’ (Dustin Lynch), and CMA and ACM Songs of the Year ‘I Drive Your Truck’ (Lee Brice).

After becoming a successful session player, Tommy went back out on the road with Reba McEntire and is currently touring with supergroup Alabama.

Tommy was honored to be nominated for ACM Drummer of the Year in 2025.

Tommy has played at the White House, played for 3 presidents, drummed on Good Morning America,  the Today Show, the View, The Ellen Show, Oprah, Regis and Kelly, the Tonight Show, the David Letterman show, the Johny Carson Show, and Jimmy Kimmel.  He performed at the opening of the Dallas football stadium playing in front of a crowd of over 80,000 in one show alone.

Tommy is also featured and screen credited in the movie ‘Muscle Shoals’, playing drums for Candi Staton and Rick Hall.

Tommy’s YouTube channel has over 6000 subscribers and has racked up over a million views.  His video series 5 Minute Monday have helped drummers all over the world and continue to be viewed on a daily basis.

Tommy currently has an online course called Real World Chops that is taking off.
