Pearl's Philharmonic Series Concert Bass Drums offer a warmer and darker sound than maple and birch. The naturally warm frequency response of the 6-ply African Mahogany shells makes PBA Bass Drums the ultimate concert performance instruments.
The 6-ply African Mahogany shells provide a natural resonance unlike any other shell material. These highly responsive shells have a naturally low, rich frequency response that is ideal for use in professional concert settings. Fully rounded bearing edges reinforce the low-frequency response of the heads and will hold up to many years of high-end performance and professional quality sound.
Tuning is fast and easy with Pearl’s exclusive Silent Tension Lug System. Each oversized t-handle lug and claw is insulated at every contact point with itself and the shell to assure minimal rattle from the drum. 8mm thick tuning rods have coarse threads enabling quick adjustments for temperature and humidity in the hall.
Philharmonic Series Bass Drums come with Remo Nuskyn Heads and feature a beautiful, hand-stained Matte Walnut Lacquer finish.

Superior Shell Technology
Pearl’s Superior Shell Technology utilizes a proprietary technique for achieving the ultimate air chamber. It begins with select woods chosen for their unique acoustic attributes, milled to precise thickness with overlapping scarf joint seams for a perfect air-tight fit. The wood plies are saturated with Pearl’s proprietary “AcoustiGlue” that permeates every pore and dries to the exact consistency of the wood for optimum resonance. Finally, the plies are formed in high-temperature molds with 1000 PSI of hydraulic pressure to produce perfect drum shells that exhibit superior tone, optimal resonance and extreme strength.
