Overview
Sean Womack is the co-founder of DoubleStop Percussion, a Birmingham-based percussion education company providing percussion instruction for all levels in over thirty one schools throughout the Southeast. DoubleStop Percussion serves as a supplement and aide to music educators throughout the southeast. It provides instruction in percussion for all levels of experience. DoubleStop Percussion works as a team with the directors we serve, striving to provide top quality education meeting the exact need of our client: the program, the director, the student. Founded in the summer of 2003, DoubleStop Percussion has quickly grown as a recognized name in percussion education both locally and nationally. Currently DoubleStop Percussion serves four elementary schools, twelve middle schools, fifteen high schools, and two top twelve drum and bugle corps. In addition, the staff maintains a teaching studio of over fifty students throughout the state. The DoubleStop Percussion staff is in demand throughout the country as adjudicators, clinicians, consultants, teachers, and arrangers
Mr. Womack received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of Georgia. While at U.A.B. Mr. Womack participated in the Marching Blazers Drumline, Wind Symphony, Percussion Ensemble, and Steel Drum Band as well as the Indoor drumline which placed second at Percussive Arts Society International Convention Marching Festival in 1999. After graduation Mr. Womack was awarded a Graduate Teaching Assistantship at the University of Georgia. His duties included teaching percussion methods, conducting percussion ensembles, and teaching undergraduate percussion majors. While at UGA Mr. Womack performed with the UGA Symphony Orchestra as principal timpanist, UGA Wind Ensemble as principl percussionist, UGA Percussion Ensemble, Tropical Breeze Steel Drum Band , Salsa Band, and the Contemporary Chamber Ensemble. In addition to his undergraduate and graduate performance experiences Mr. Womack is also a former member of Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps from Orlando Florida. He also has performed with the Macon Symphony Orchestra as well as the Savannah Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Womack is an adjudicator, clinician, and arranger throughout the Southeast. His teachers include Dr. Eric Hollenbeck, Dr. Thomas McCutchen, and Dr. Arvin Scott. Mr. Womack is a member of Percussive Arts Society, MENC, and the Alabama Music Educators Association. Mr. Womack is an endorser for Pearl Drums and Adams Musical Instruments as well as Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets.
