Jón Geir got his first drum kit at the age of 13 when his parents finally had enough after years of him destroying kitchen furniture with spatulas or any other utensil that could be used as a drumstick. Being born and raised in the small town of Ísafjörður in Iceland there was not much to do but practice and practice and taking every opportunity to play live. Dance bands, jazz, or death metal; a gig is a gig and in a small community you can't afford to be choosy. That exposure to different styles is probably what shaped him most as a musician. After playing in various bands and projects he joined Skálmöld in 2010. A project that was supposed to be bunch of guys hanging out once a week playing heavy metal soon exploded and ten years later after multiple gold and platinum records, two collaberations with the Icelandic Symphony Orcherstra, and countless gigs all over Europe there is no end in sight.
