Overview
Rick Feds is one of the greatest finger-drummers in the world today and has been included in Ableton's top 5 list two years in a row. He is a performer, music producer, Fulbright scholar, TED speaker that experiments with technology to further extend the reach of a performer controlling more than one surface at once. After studies in Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, Denmark he establishes the jazz drums program at Jazepa Vītola Music Academy of Latvia, but soon after finds his way in the U.S. Besides his studies at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Rick quickly becomes a sought after session musician and starts working with artists like Cuba Gooding Sr., Betty Wright, Marcus Miller, etc. After a few years Fedʼs feels the lack of individual expression and starts focusing on a solo career. The former classical/jazz background makes a key difference in Rick's play on a sample pad. His finger-drumming technique allows him to control all the music production arrangement live that also triggers visual content in real time. It has never been done before in that extend. Fedʼs sees that as an initial stage of imitating reality and lately has been focusing on VR and ATMOS sound to create a movie like experience that is fully controlled and improvised by a single individual.
