Frame drums are played around the globe, spanning many musical genres and cultural borders; and now, Pearl provides these fundamental instruments in a range of sizes, made with the quality on which Pearl’s reputation was built. Constructed of blended Asiatic hardwood and featuring a coated drumhead, the drums produce a full, open tone, and are drum-key tunable. The drums come in a set of 6 sizes 8”, 10”, 12”, 14”, 16”, and 18”.

The Awakening Series has been expanded to include a series of natural nut shakers that provide earthy tones that complement the series. Kenari, Bendo, and Pangi nuts range in size from small, medium, and large and each size possesses unique sound properties that are utilized in the shakers. Kenari nuts are the smallest and their hard triangular exterior becomes a miniature sound chamber when played. The Kenari Nut Windchime features 26 strands of Kenari nuts with 6 nuts per strand. The Kenari Nut Shaker is 7” long and features 22 strands of nuts with 6 nuts per strand and a 5” nylon wrapped Rattan handle. The new Kenari Nut Bracelet Shaker features 14 individually strung Kenari nuts that can be worn by musicians to layer sounds while playing instruments like guitar or cajon.

The shekere is a West African percussion instrument consisting of a dried gourd with a woven netting of beads covering the gourd. The instrument is commonly used in West African and Latin American music and can also be heard in many popular forms of music. Pearl offers both natural gourd and synthetic shekeres in a variety of sizes. The instrument is played by slapping the bottom of the gourd and by shaking and twisting the netting in rhythmic patterns. The adjustable netting can the tightened for a quick response or loosened for a sloppy feel.

The state-of-the-art tambourine has arrived. Pearl’s Ultra Grip Tambourine with Jingle Control features a ski-pole like ergonomic shaped grip that is positioned near the tambourine’s center of gravity for comfortable and effortless playing. The revolutionary Jingle Control Discs allow the jingles to be selectively muted to control the volume of your tambourine to complement your playing style and setting. Each Ultra Grip Tambourine is equipped with Pearl’s Quick Mount holder that allows the tambourine to go from mounted to hand-held with a flick of your wrist.

Pearl has expanded its line of shakers to include six Bamboo Rainsticks ranging in size from 16” to 60” and available in 2 unique finishes. Our natural Bamboo Rainsticks are 2.5” in diameter and feature an internal spiral maze of tines, that a cascade of lava pebbles flow over to create the soothing sound of falling rain. A portion of the sales from Pearl's Rainsticks are donated to The Rhythmic Arts Program. (TRAP) educates individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities as well as typical young children, by embracing a unique methodology that encompasses rhythm as a modality to address basic life and learning skills as well as reading, writing, and arithmetic.
