Overview
Desmond Davis the "BlackDrumHippie", is a versatile drummer hailing from the west side of Chicago who has developed a talent and passion for playing drums for over twenty years. Desmond honed his skills in the Baptist church playing gospel music however; he is well-rounded with the ability to play just about any genre known. Those genres include but are not limited to; rock, pop, country, hip-hop, jazz, R&B, reggae, funk, and blues.
With growing notoriety, Desmond has played & shared the with countless artists including Stellar & Grammy Award nominated gospel artist Johnathan McReynolds, Stellar & Grammy Award winning gospel artist Donald Lawerence, Stellar Award nominated gospel artist Todd Dulaney, Grammy nominated artist and TV One's R&B Divas star Syleena Johnson, and Grammy Award winning Hip-hop artist Rhymefest.
Currently the "BlackDrumHippie" is the musical director for Atlantic Records rising ghetto gospel rapper Sir the Baptist. He has played many venues during his career with the recent pleasure of playing on Emmy Award nominated late night talk show NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers with Sir the Baptist and in one of the world's largest musical festivals; Lollapalooza with soul and pop artist Janelle Kroll.
As of late Desmond has continued to record and tour with more dates forthcoming.
