The origin of Ashiko drums can be traced back to West Africa and the Yoruba tribe. The Ashiko is a close relative to the djembe and its sound is complementary to the djembe when played together in drum circles or ensembles. The long tapered cylinder of the Ashiko produces lower bass notes than djembes, with rich mid-tones. The 1-piece PVC shell features 21 tuning points and a 10" tucked collar synthetic head. Standing 23.5" tall, the shell is finished in #682 Artisan Amber Cypress and includes a rubber bottom edge protector.
