Mauricio "Topo" Espíndola was born on November 29, 1975 in the city of La Plata in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He started playing the drums at the age of 11, and at 15 he began studying with local teachers, and later, he studied with Marcelo Mira, Ruben Duca, Fito Messina, Jorge Araujo and Fernando Martínez among others. As a Musician: Between 1990 and 2002 Topo was part and recorded with some local projects. In 2003 he was called by the actor and musician Antonio Birabent, for touring to promote the album "Cardinal" around Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. That same year he participated in the recording of album "Buenos Aires", and in 2005 he recorded "Tiempo y Espacio". From 2005 to 2018 he was part of “Skay y Los Fakires”, a band of the former guitarist of “Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota”, Skay Beillinson, with whom he recorded four albums (La marca de Caín, Dónde vas ?, La Luna Hueca and El Engranaje de Cristal) and made several tours throughout the country, Uruguay, Bolivia and Spain. At the same time, since 2009 he began some projects in the Power Trío format, including Impulso, Cráter and Cenote with whom he recorded the album “Parte del Silencio” in 2015. As a Teacher: He began to give private lessons in 1998 and since 2004 he has been conducting clinics and workshops throughout the country. In 2010 he participated in the “Zildjian Day Argentina” with Pipi Piazzola (Escalandrum), Waldo Madera (Juanes / Ricky Martin) and Mike Mangini (Dream Theater) at the Astral Theater in the city of Buenos Aires. Since 2018 he has been running Prodrums Records, his own Home studio, where he develops as a Producer and Recording Engineer, working with new artists and bands. He is an endorser of Pearl drums, Zildjian cymbals, Remo drum heads and Vic Firth drumsticks
