Born in 1983 in the south-western part of Germany, Simon Scheibel started playing drums at the early age of five. During his time in school he not only took lessons from his teacher Colin Jamison but also started playing in local bands, already as a teenager covering different stylistics as diverse as Jazz, Swing and Heavy Metal. He then became increasingly interested in jazz music and took lessons from Christian Scheuber and Dirik Schilgen. 

In 2005 Simon moved to the Netherlands, where he studied Drums at the Conservatorium Arnhem, studying with René Creemers and Joop van Erven, and earning his degree in 2009. During that time he also attended various national and international Workshops (e.g. International Jazzworkshop Trier, Germany in 2007 and 2008; X-Treme Drum Camp, Athens, Greece in 2007).
With his Progressive-Indie Band „Lake Cisco“ Simon reached the 2010 finals of the national Newcomercontest „Local Heroes“ and got awarded as „best instrumentalist“ of all participants.
Today, Simon has relocated to Cologne, Germany, teaching drums at various music schools and playing in the following bands: Lake Cisco (www.lakecisco.com), Natalie Kies Trio (www.flavors.me/nataliekies), ZZ11 (www.myspace.com/zz11orchestra).

What is it you like so much about playing Pearl Drums? 
- I play Pearl Drums for almost 10 years now and i´m always surprised how diversified they are in every kind of music. I can play different types of music with only one Drumset I just have to adjust them a little bit and done. It´s so amazing!

Which drummer/band influenced you most into playing drums? 
- I think my biggest influences into playing drums are my drum teachers: Colin Jamieson, Christian Scheuber, René Creemers and Joop van Erven but also Bill Stewart,  Jojo Mayer, Steve Jordan,  Steve Smith, Moritz Müller, Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, Mike Portnoy, Ray Luzier, Simply Red, Foo Fighters, John Mayer and Chicago 

Who in your mind are the drummers of tomorrow, who has caught you eye? 
- Moritz Müller, Chris Dave

What do you like most about being a drummer?
- I think the most I like about being a drummer is the power you have when you´re playing with a band. Every show that I play is a new challenge because if i mess up during a song, the whole band is gonna mess up and everything can fall apart. It´s my job that this is not gonna happen. Even if one of the other instruments mess up that´s not as bad as if the drummer does. We hold the things together. 
- It´s also my way to express my feelings and emotions and what impresses me the most is that it gets natural doing 4 different things at the same time without thinking about it.

What is the worst thing to happen to you during a show?
-  To lose or break a drumstick and then realizing that I have no more Sticks in my Bag. I highly recommend to always have a back up of 25 pairs!
What do you practice and for how long?
- Recently and for the next couple of weeks i´m gonna practice singlestrokes around the set, singlepedal foot technique and i work with Marco Minnemann´s book “Extreme Interdependence”.

What is your best advice to a young player wanting to make it in this industry?
- Stay true to yourselve, be honest, never stop with practicing, be passionate about what you love and party with the right people, be a good friend, and always be on time.

If you had the chance to play drums for another artist who would it be?
- I’d really like to play with John Mayer, the Foo Fighters and John Legend.
