Laura Noah is a professional timpanist and percussion educator residing in Mobile, Alabama. She is the principal timpanist for the Mobile Symphony, Pensacola Symphony, Gulf Coast Symphony, and Meridian Symphony. She has also performed with the Louisiana Philharmonic, Mobile Opera, Pensacola Opera, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and The Summer Opera Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. 

 

Mrs. Noah is an adjunct faculty member at the University of West Florida and Pensacola State College. She teaches applied percussion, percussion methods, marching band methods and is Director of the Pensacola West Percussion Ensemble. Recently, Laura joined the adjunct faculty at the University of Mobile where she teaches applied percussion, percussion pedagogy, and is the percussion instructor for Ram Corps. Mrs. Noah also works with her husband, Sean, and the McGill-Toolen Catholic High School Band program coaching percussion ensemble, Prep-Band percussion and is the instructor/arranger for the front ensemble.

 

Laura Noah can be heard performing percussion on the album Songs of Robert Burns by Brian Joyce, Flying Frog Music, 2012 and Changes for Seven for Woodwind Quintet, Percussion and Piano The Voice of Coelacanth - Music of William Bergsma, Centaur Records, Inc., 2013. Laura s published article: Two Worlds: Marching and Orchestra: The Benefits of TBC - Timing, Balance, and Character can be found in Percussive Notes - Vol. 52, No. 4.

 

Mrs. Noah holds a Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, studying with Jonathan Haas. While attending Peabody, she received The Richard Franko Goldman Prize. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of Alabama. Laura also attended the Aspen Music Festival and School and was a member of the 1999 DCI Champion Santa Clara Vanguard.

 

Laura is a Pearl/Adams Regional Education Artist, an endorser of Innovative Percussion products, and a member of the Percussive Arts Society.
