プロフィール

Joe is an artist living in Cleveland, Ohio and a proud endorser of Pearl Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Evans Drum Heads,Vic Firth Sticks, Morfbeats, Earthquaker Devices, and Reflexx.

Joe grew up in Cleveland playing all the music he could...from jazz, punk rock, hip-hop, reggae, classical and electronic. After graduating high school, Joe attended Cleveland State University, studying classical percussion and performing with the Cleveland Youth Orchestra under the tutelage of the Cleveland Orchestra. It was around this time that Joe started playing and touring with the internationally acclaimed avant-acoustic-electric trio, birth. Upon first leaving home, Joe moved up east to study jazz performance and composition at the New England Conservatory.

In 2000, Joe relocated to NYC to be with the love of his life, his now-awesome-wife, and to make music. Joe had some amazing opportunities to play, tour and record with such artists such as The Fugees, Lady Gaga, Mike Patton, Wyclef Jean, Matisyahu, Blondie, Rahzel, Del Amitri, Lauren Hill, Joe Maneri, Simply Red, The Green, Ying Yang Twins, Z-Trip, Wayne Krantz, Easy Star All-stars, Meshell Ndegeocollo, Battle of Mice, Julie Christmas and other amazing artists.

After a few years in NYC, Joe co-founded Dub Trio.  Dub Trio has released several albums, toured internationally and was the backing band for Matisyahu and Mike Patton's Peeping Tom. While with Matisyahu, Joe performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics, made many national and international TV appearances, and toured and recorded behind the five albums: ‘Live at Stubbs Vol. II’ ‘Light’  ‘Akeda’ & 'Sparker Seekers' and ‘Undercurrent’. In 2016, after moving to Cleveland, Joe co-founded Yellowstone Apocalypse, an instrumental doom duo. Joe started playing percussion in the GRiZ Live Band in 2017, whose first shows were a sold-out Red Rocks and heading Electric Forest. The following year, 2018, brought about the formation of Togishi (a Cleveland based improv trio creating music that is both visceral and cerebral), who’s debut album was met with high praise. In 2019, Birth released their first album, ‘Almost Never’ in over 15 years.

When Joe is not on the road, he keeps busy recording as a session musician, producing/remixing, teaching drums, teaching yoga (RYT-200), being a nutrition/cooking coach, riding his bike and meditating.

A few highlights of playing music throughout his career include: opening for The Who, holding down the drum chair for The Fugees’ reunion tour, receiving an American Music Award and performing live on national television for the awards ceremony, and in 2013 releasing an album of original solo classical percussion compositions entitled, Omega
