Terry Sanders is in his 25th year as a Marching Percussion Instructor. He is currently the Director of Percussion at Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida. Under his direction, the EHS Field Season Percussion unit has won over 40 High Drum Caption awards and has received no less than a superior rating at any contest since 1982. The critically acclaimed “Diamonds Indoor Percussion Ensemble” have been WGI Regional Finalist and Champions and World Championship participants & finalist since 1995. Mr. Sanders also provides classroom instruction and clinics for Bailey Middle School & Warrington Middle School percussion students. Mr. Sanders is responsible for coordinating Northwest Florida's largest ever, Master Class Clinic for High School Marching Percussion. In association with the Florida Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society, the PAS Fall Day of Percussion has been a successful event for 7 years running.
Mr. Sanders received his degrees in Computer and Information Science and Music Education from Troy State University. He studied percussion under Dr. Samuel Frederick, while marching with the “Sound of the South” Trojan Band. He studied clarinet with Dr. John M. Long in the Troy State Reading Band. He also studied privately with, Sergeant Carl Griggs of the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Sanders was the Percussion Caption Head and arranger for the Florida Wave Drum and Bugle corps from 1980 - 81. Mr. Sanders has been an Adjudicator for Festivals and Band Contest as well as Indoor Percussion shows throughout the South. He is an associate member of the Central States Judges Association. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Gulf Coast Color Guard and Percussion Circuit as the Percussion Judges Coordinator. He is a member of the WGI Percussion Advisory Board for Winter Guard International. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity and is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society. Mr. Sanders, is currently endorsed by Pearl Corporation,Pro-Mark Corporation, and Grover Pro Percussion Accessories.
