OverviewJim Wunderlich is one of the world’s most sought-after percussionists, composers, and educators. With over 20 years experience in performing, writing and arranging for champion front ensembles, Jim brings a wealth of talent and experience to the Pearl and Adams Education Team.
Jim Wunderlich’s drum corps roots go back to 1989 when he marched tenors for Suncoast Sound. Today, he is the Front Ensemble Caption Head and arranger for The Concord Blue Devils. The 2007 & 2009 Blue Devils were awarded the honor of DCI World Champion Drum Corps and the percussion section received the Fred Sanford Award for Best Percussion Performance. In addition, Jim visits Japan several times a year where he is the Front Ensemble Caption Head and arranger for Tokyo’s Soka Renaissance Vanguard. Previous drum corps credits include work with the Seattle Cascades, the Velvet Knights, the Brigadiers and Esperanza.
Jim is no stranger to the Indoor Percussion activity and Winter Guard International (WGI). He has been the Front Ensemble arranger & caption head for many successful programs, including seven-time WGI Scholastic World medalist Mission Viejo High School; 4-time WGI Independent World gold medalist Riverside Community College; and five-time WGI Scholastic A medalist Loara High School. Jim has served on the WGI Percussion Advisory Board since 1996, and is a founding member of the Southern California Percussion Alliance. Jim is also a member of the prestigious WGI Hall of Fame, inducted in the Class of 2012.
Jim is the owner of Wunderpit Music (ASCAP).
