Overview

Clint Gillespie is currently a member of the music faculty at Jacksonville State University where he teaches percussion and music theory. At JSU, he conducts the Wind Ensemble and is the Assistant Director of the 375 member Marching Southerners. The Marching Southerners perform for all JSU home games and select away games. In addition to performing at games, the Marching Southerners typically perform as an exhibition band at six to eight marching band competitions throughout the fall. The Marching Southerners have performed as an exhibition band at the Bands of America Grand Nationals in Indianapolis, IN and frequently perform at the BOA Atlanta Regional.
  

Clint is also the director and arranger of the JSU Drumline. Under his instruction, the group has been awarded first place at the Percussive Arts Society National College Drumline Competition (1999) and consistently places in the top three. Under his guidance, the percussion studio at JSU has grown to over 40 majors. His percussion ensembles at JSU have performed at many percussion events and festivals including the Alabama PAS Day of Percussion. His former students have been winners of DCI Individual competitions, members of major symphony orchestras, and recipients of numerous scholarships and awards. 
   

Clint was the percussion arranger/caption head at Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps from 2000 to 2007. He has also been on the percussion staff for Carolina Crown and Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Gillespie has been a percussion instructor and consultant for numerous band programs in the southeast including Kennesaw Mountain High School, Lassiter High School, Choctawhatchee High School, Georgia Tech University and the University of Alabama. His arrangements have been played by numerous band programs in the Southeast.
   

Clint is in frequent demand as a guest clinician for percussion and band events. He has given clinics throughout the country at days of percussion and honor band festivals. Mr. Gillespie has presented clinics for the Georgia PAS Chapter and the Alabama PAS Chapter. Clint is currently sponsored by Innovative Percussion, Evans Drumheads and Pearl Drums/Adams.
