Latin Night With Rolando

"Our Latin nights are the stuff of legend and always sell out well in advance." Tommy Igoe's Birdland Big Band is the hottest big band in New York. From sold-out shows every Friday night at Birdland to being featured at the Buddy Rich Memorial Concert, the band is in high demand. Led by drummer Tommy Igoe, the band is made up of all-star musicians and world-class special guests. Rolando will also take part in a world premiere tour featuring Resonances by Kareem Roustom will be performed at Villanova University as part of their 42nd Annual Theology Conference on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 7:30 pm. This ground-breaking composition is an Arab/Jewish musical odyssey and a landmark contribution to Middle Eastern cooperation. Intercultural Journeys' international virtuoso ensemble of Ud i Bar-David, Hanna Khoury, and Rolando Morales-Matos will perform the work with a special appearance by A Philadelphia Orchestra string quartet. 

Rolando Morales-Matos is currently one of the solo percussionists and assistant conductor with Disney’s production of The Lion King, Broadway New York - recipient of six 1998 Tony Awards including Best Musical, as well as the 1999 Grammy for Best Musical Show Album.
