Pearl’s Superior Shell Technology utilizes a proprietary technique for achieving the ultimate air chamber. It begins with select woods chosen for their unique acoustic attributes, milled to precise thickness with overlapping scarf joint seams, for a perfect air-tight fit. The wood plies are saturated with Pearl’s proprietary “AcoustiGlue” that permeates every pore and dries to the exact consistency of the wood for optimum resonance. Finally, the plies are formed in high-temperature molds with 1000 PSI of hydraulic pressure to produce perfect drum shells that exhibit superior tone, optimal resonance and extreme strength.

Tapered scarf jointsNo inferior butt seams here. These tapered scarf joints seamlessly overlap for perfect shell resonance and consistency. AcoustiGlueOur proprietary "AcoustiGlue" permeates the wood and hardens to the same consistency as the wood. Staggered jointsThe scarf joints are carefully staggered upon insertion of the specially designed mold. Extream heat and pressureExtreme heat and over 1000 PSI pressure are simultaneously applied to the shell during formation. Gapless air chamberA perfect, gapless air chamber. TrimmingThe shell is then trimmed and the ends squared to assure overall tuning consistency and head seal. Bearing EdgeOur exclusive bearing edge incorporates a 45° out and 45° in, slightly inset from the exterior to optimize contact with the flat portion of the drum head. FinishesPearl's finishes are the industry state-of-the-art. Your choice of finish is encased in layers of highly durable urethane and polished to a high luster. Truly a work of art.
