Prosperie at the Illinois PAS Day of Percussion
The Illinois Percussive Arts Society held their annual Day of Percussion at Naperville Central High School, January 12th, 2013. Hosted by Brandon Estes and Ben Wahlund, attendees were treated to a special clinic from Pearl/Adams Artist Jeff Prosperie. Prosperie gave his clinic on the legacy of the snare drum, providing a great deal of history through lecture and performance of the snare drum, percussion rudiments, and the application of rudimental snare drumming to other percussive areas including jazz drumset, concert snare drum, and the xylophone.
The Day of Percussion also hosted an informative panel discussion on the past, present, and future of marching percussion ensembles. In addition to Prosperie, the panel included representative directors from continually successful programs such as Romeoville High School, Victor J. Andrew High School, Green Thunder Percussion, and Pioneer Indoor Percussion.
Overall, a very fun and educational time was had by all. For more information about Pearl/Adams Artist clinics and educational events, visit our online calendar.
