Pearl/Adams - DCI 2012 Finals

Pearl/Adams was very well represented at the 2012 DCI Championships, in Indianapolis, IN., August 6-11.  The final week of the DCI season is packed full of events including DCI Open Class Championships, Open Class Individual and Ensemble competition, as well as World Class Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals competitions.

On Monday, August 6th, DCI Open Class Preliminary competition was underway in Michigan City, IN, with Blue Devils B positioned in 2nd overall, and 7th Regiment in 5th overall.  The following night at Open Class Finals, the corps took the same placements with Blue Devils B receiving the 2012 DCI Open Class Silver Medal, as well as being awarded the 2012 DCI Open Class High Percussion Trophy.

Open Class corps treated the drum corps community with splendid performances in Open Class Individual & Ensemble competition on Wednesday, August 8th.  Congratulations to the members of Blue Devils B who took top honors in the following catagories:

Timpani - Julius Pasion, Blue Devils B - 82.0
Keyboard - Connie Truong, Blue Devils B - 95.0
Multi-Percussion - Dillan Baillard, Blue Devils B - 91.0
Snare Drum - Kaito Haruta, Blue Devils B - 98.0
Fastest Drummer - Steven Drummer, Blue Devils B - 923 strokes/minute

Thursday saw the opening of World Class competition with Quarterfinals populated by Open Class Finalists and World Class corps.  35 of the world's top drum corps were in competition for 25 spots in Friday's Semifinals performance.  Quarterfinals resulted in the Blue Devils remaining on top of the standings, extending their undefeated streak which would not be broken by season's end.  The Troopers, Cascades, and Blue Devils B each earned a spot in Semifinals, with Spirit of Atlanta, The Blue Knights, and Blue Devils advancing to DCI World Class Finals.

Saturday was truly a spectacle with three out of twelve finalist corps representing Pearl/Adams in competition.  Spirit of Atlanta finished 11th overall (84.40), followed by The Blue Knights who received 10th overall (86.70).

The Blue Devils were awarded the Fred Sanford High Percussion Trophy for having the highest average percussion score over Championships Weekend.  The Blue Devils went undefeated in percussion during Championships week, and undefeated as a corps throughout the entire 2012 season, which culminated in The Blue Devils being crowned the 2012 DCI World Class Champions with a score of 98.70!
