The Devin Townsend Project Takes Home Juno Award
Pearl Artist, Ryan Van Poederooyen, and The Devin Townsend Project took home a prestigious Juno Award under the category of “Hard Rock/Metal Album of the Year” for their 2014 studio release, Z2! The Juno Awards recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), similar to the Grammy Awards in the US, and the United Kingdom’s Brit Awards. The Devin Townsend Project’s Sunday night victory stood as their third Juno Award nomination, however marked their first victory. Upon learning of their monumental achievement, Ryan Van Poederooyen took to his Facebook to state:
“So the DTP (Devin Townsend Project) won a Juno for album of the year with Z2! 3rd time lucky, as we were nominated twice before and didn't win. A very cool achievement in the Canadian Music Industry. Very proud of this award and grateful to be a part of earning it!”
The Devin Townsend Project is currently headlining a European tour in support of Z2, and was not able to attend Sunday night’s Juno Award Show which was held at The FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario.
