Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith to Debut ‘Parallax’
Over the course of the past three decades, Pearl Artist, Chad Smith has become one of the most recognizable figures in Rock & Roll and an icon in the drumming community through his tremendous work with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and also with his phenomenal side projects, Chickenfoot and the Bombastic Meatbats. A Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and multi-Grammy Award Winning musician, Chad has accomplished practically everything there is to accomplish in the music world, and is now focusing his creative efforts in a new artistic direction.
Partnering with the creative department at SceneFour- a visual art collaboration team based in Los Angeles- Chad Smith introduces his new and debut art collection, “Parallax”- a 13 piece collection crafted from the rhythm-on-canvas medium. Using a pair of special drumsticks that light up in various ways and display a plethora of different colors, Chad Smith jammed out behind set of Pearl’s Reference Series drums, while the SceneFour team used their talents to capture all of his movements behind the kit. Following the rhythmic work, each visual was then brought into the Los Angeles studio of SceneFour, where the captured rhythms undergo an extensive and sophisticated process to bring out the abstract. Lastly, each work is named by Smith and laid to canvas in this highly limited release, titled, “Parallax”. A video of Chad discussing the process and project can be viewed below.
In typical Chad Smith fashion, a significant portion of all proceeds from “Parallax” will benefit Camp Korey, a charity that serves children with serious medical conditions. For more information on Chad Smith, please click here.
