Pearl Percussion At The Grammys

Pearl Percussion Artists had a big night at Sunday's 51st Grammy Awards, broadcast live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Future Man and Bela Fleck & The Flecktones add another Grammy to their collection for Jingle All The Way winning in the category of Best Pop Instrumental Album.

Fresh off his appearance with Jay-Z at Inauguration Concert, percussionist Brett Baker performed  with The Rap Pack  - Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, T.I., and a nine-months pregnant M.I.A. "What can I say about the Grammys. WOW! You know, besides watching every year all of my life as a musician and a fan of music, great artist and musicians..... It's the most celebrated award show in the music industry. One of the most popular award shows in history. So not only did I get to be there, but the first year I got to actually witness it with my own eyes, I found myself ON STAGE PERFORMING, with the FOUR MOST POPULAR HIP HOP ARTISTS ALIVE right now. INCREDIBLE!!

Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and T.I. performed "Swagga Like Us", a song that they collaborated on. And to perform the song at the Grammys, they all came together and hand selected the band members from each camp. I just happened to be one of the ones chosen. It was a great honor and so I had to be on top of my game. Being there, behind the scenes, there really isn't a collective amount of words that can describe the energy that was in the air.
All I know is, when they opened that curtain..... it was time to show and prove. Being among a cast of excellent musicians made it easy though. And after the last echo of "Swagga like us, like us, like us...." then the roar of the crowd as they approved of the performance...... well..... let's just say, next to the performance at the Inauguration of President Obama, this wasn't a sloppy second at all. A few words aren't really a realistic evaluation of it all. I'm glad that I could be standing on stage representing Pearl... they showed me love and I appreciate that. Let's continue to make history."

Another Gospel Pack Pack artist had a busy night... Terence Higgins of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band took part in the tribute to New Orleans featuring Lil Wayne, Robin Thicke, Allan Toussaint, and Terence Blanchard performance of "Tie My Hands". "Wow, the Grammy Awards has to be hands down one of the biggest production events in the world. Not only was it a great experience and an honor to perform on that stage with Lil Wayne and all of my colleagues  representing New Orleans, but to see first hand all of the stars and to witness this event behind the scenes was truly mind blowing!!!!

Congratulations to Future Man, all the nominees, and the Pearl Artists who performed on stage.
