Justin Bieber Performs on Jay Leno!

In case you missed it, and I’m sure many of you didn’t, mega-superstar, Justin Bieber, performed his latest hit single, “Boyfriend”, on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno this week. A video of the performance can be viewed below. Between his incredibly catchy hooks, amazingly choreographed dance moves, and a live band that tops them all, it’s hard not to put Justin Bieber at the top of all of our “Guilty Pleasure List”. Luckily, for us drummers, we have the excuse of saying that we tuned into Justin Bieber’s Wednesday night Jay Leno performance because of the drumming phenom, Melvin “Melly” Baldwin…which wouldn’t actually be an excuse at all.

Melly is a drummer that seems to have every trick in the bag and, through his beautiful display of tasteful-yet-technical drum fills and rudimental sticking perfection, it’s no wonder why his shoulder was tapped when the world’s biggest superstar was looking for a drummer that had it all. For this one-off hit on the Jay Leno Show, Melly was paired up behind a gorgeous set of Reference Series drums, which is finished in the striking Granite Sparkle Lacquer. Melly’s specs for this performance are as follow:

Reference Series: Granite Sparkle (194)

22x18- bass drum
8x7- rack tom
10x8- rack tom
12x8- rack tom
14x14- floor tom
16x16- floor tom
14x6.5- Reference Series snare drum (wood)

Melly will be alongside Justin Bieber on the upcoming world tour, which is scheduled to kick off this September and will be winding its way around North America until mid-January. More information and up to the minute updates on this Fall trek, and other news, can be found at www.JustinBieberMusic.com. Great job Melly!
