Havok Gets Set for 'Unnatural Selection'

Denver thrashers, Havok, have announced the official release of their upcoming album, Unnatural Selection, which is scheduled to hit the shelves on June 25th, courtesy of Candlelight Records.  The first single from the album, “Give Me Liberty… Or Give Me Death,” will hit Loud Rock/Metal radio on May 27, and the single perfectly displays the band’s furious and intense sound, while showing each individual’s incredible talent with their respective instrument.  In support of the new album, Havok will be performing 3 special record release shows within their home state of Colorado.  The first night of these special appearances is scheduled to take place at the Marquis Theater in Denver, CO, on June 21st, before moving to The Black Sheep in Colorado Springs, on June 22nd, and the last night will take place at the Aggie Theater in Fort Collins, CO, on June 23rd.  All attendees for these special album release shows will receive a copy of Unnatural Selection with their ticket purchase.

Throughout the recording process of the new album, Havok utilized several different locations to achieve different acoustics.  For the drums, Pearl artist, Pete Webber, brought his Masters MCX kit to the center stage of an old theater in Colorado, in order to achieve a larger and more open sound.  In regards to the recording process, Pete states:

“I am super pumped on how the drums came out.” Pete continues, “We recorded the drums in a theater to get a huge sound.  It was a challenging experience for me between time constraints and the drum parts having much more feeling in them.  I believe the added pressure made for some really awesome stuff.  I can't wait to unleash this album to the world.”

Combined with the open acoustics of the theater, the 6-ply, all-maple shells of Pete’s Masters MCX kit emit warm, resonant, mid-range tones that are ideal for the studio, and are continually relied upon by some of the world’s finest studio drummers.  Pete’s setup in the studio, as well as on the road, is as follows:

Masters MCX:
Lime Sparkle Fade (364)

22x18 bass drum x2
10x8 tom
12x9 tom
16x16 floor tom
13x5 Omar Hakim Signature snare

With a new album dropping shortly, Havok are out in support of the new studio effort, currently bringing their classic thrash sound to their budding fan base in Europe.  For more information on Havok, and Pete Webber, please be sure to check out the band’s official website,  Also be sure to pick up a copy of the band’s new album, Unnatural Selection, which hits the shelves on June 25th!
