Dream Theater Announces New Album!

The pioneers of prog-rock, Dream Theater- featuring legendary musicians John Petrucci on guitar, John Myung on bass, James LaBrie on vocals, Jordan Rudess on keyboards, and, longstanding Pearl artist, Mike Mangini on drums- have announced the news we’ve all been anxiously awaiting:

Dream Theater, the new and highly anticipated album from one of history’s most iconic bands, will hit the shelves on September 24, 2013.

After the seemingly endless wait and the cruel online teasers that have kept us checking back to their Facebook page almost-hourly for updates, the date has been set for the bar to be raised.  Dream Theater’s forthcoming self-titled album will stand as the band’s 12th studio effort and follow up to their highly successful 2010 effort, A Dramatic Turn of Events- which hosts the Grammy nominated single “On the Backs of Angels.”  Dream Theater, the album, comes as the first album written and recorded with Mike Mangini wholly integrated into the lineup, after his highly publicized addition to the band in late 2010.  This must-have album will be available in a wide range of distinctive versions, including standard and special edition CDs, 180 gram double LP, and a limited edition boxed set, with pre-orders scheduled to launch in July at the Roadrunner Records Webstore.

Before joining the prog-powerhouse of Dream Theater in 2010, Mike Mangini had already established himself as one of the world’s finest and fastest drummers of all time, gracing the stages alongside some of today’s finest progressive musicians, including Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Extreme, and Annihilator.  Mike Mangini’s mathematical approach to music has made him a true genius of his craft, with his truly flawless technique making a mere simplicity out of what seems physically impossible.  For the writing and recording process of the new album, Pearl artist, Mike Mangini, brought his insanely-huge, two-tiered Reference Pure drum kit into Cove City Sound Studios, trusting the open and resonant tones of the Reference Pure’s innovative thin-shelled design to provide the desired tones for the new album.  Mike’s full specs are as follow:
