Deep Purple Lead 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominations
British hard-rock legends, Deep Purple are among the 15 artists newly nominated for possible induction into the 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame class! Having sold over 100 million albums worldwide throughout their illustrious 47 year career, Deep Purple- who are backed by iconic drummer and longstanding Pearl Artist, Ian Paice- are cited as one of the pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal, rounding out the “unholy trinity of hard rock” alongside Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its debut single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.
For the fourth consecutive year, the public will have the opportunity to vote alongside the more than 800 artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body. From now until December 9, fans can vote for the nominees they would like to see inducted, and the top five acts will comprise a "fan's ballot" that will count as one of the ballots that determine the class of 2016.
Over the next two months, fans will have the opportunity to participate in the induction selection process. Fans can visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame website to cast votes for the artist or group they think deserves to be inducted into the Rock Hall. The top five artists will comprise a "fans' ballot" that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2016 inductees. Voting for the 2016 class of inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame can be found here. The 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees will be announced in December, and the induction ceremony will be held in New York City in April.
