Chad Smith is Honored by Little Kids Rock, and Jams in Celebration

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer and music icon, Chad Smith, was honored by Little Kids Rock over the weekend, being presented with the “Livin’ the Dream Award” during the organization’s inaugural Family Jam Benefit at the Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park, CA.  This incredible honor was presented to Chad for his astounding support and endless contribution to Little Kids Rock- the organization he also chose to represent during last year’s highly publicized Drum Off against Will Ferrell which aired live on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.  In celebration of the honor, Chad hopped behind a beautiful set of Pearl's Crystal Beat seamless acrylic drums to jam with participating students, performing a rendition of the Red Hot Chili Peppers classic, “Can’t Stop”.  A video of the jam session can be viewed below.

In regards to the spectacular event, Chad Smith states:

"Music has been at the center of my life for as long as I can remember, and it's pretty cool to be in a position to give back," the drummer says. "Thanks to Little Kids Rock for taking the lead and building such an amazing organization.”

"It's so important to keep music education alive in our schools, and to dedicate resources to giving back to the next generation of music makers," Smith continues. "I'm committed to doing everything I can to support this effort, and Saturday's event at Facebook was an absolute blast. Who knows — maybe some of the kids we jammed with will be the next Red Hot Chili Peppers!"

Little Kids Rock is one of the leading nonprofit providers of free lessons and instruments to underprivileged children in US public schools, and has served more than 400,000 students at over 1,700 schools in 29 cities nationwide.  More information on this fantastic organization can be found at
