311 Announces 2013 Summer Unity Tour!

Bust out those sunglasses, trade in those sweaters for short sleeves, and apply that suntan lotion- summer is coming!  And with the exciting realization of the warmer weather being just around the corner, music fans will delighted to discover that the summer season’s finest band, 311, will once again be hitting the road for their 11th Summer Unity Tour!  311’s signature and unmistakable sound is known for serving as the perfect playlist to an unforgettable summer night, mixed with a live spectacle that leaves fans on their feet and singing along to the countless hit-singles that have invaded and dominated rock airwaves for the last 18 years.  The 2013 Unity Tour is scheduled to embark at The Starlight Theater in Kansas City, MO, on June 2nd, and continue throughout the US before coming to a close at the Sleep Train Amphitheater in Chula Vista, CA, on August 3rd.  A full list of tour dates can be found below.

For drummers, the announcement of this year’s Unity Tour immediately and almost-involuntarily forces a frantic panic of scrolling through the band’s schedule to see when 311 will be rolling through a town near them, in hopes of getting to witness the band’s iconic drummer, Chad Sexton, live in concert.  Chad has remained in the bright spotlight of the drumming since breaking into the scene with his rock solid and tasteful drumming, along with his signature and extremely high-pitched snare tone found on the earlier 311 albums.  Since his breakthrough, Chad’s marching background continues to be highly prevalent throughout 311’s entire catalog, especially during the unforgettable drum solo in which Chad incorporates each member of 311 along with a plethora of Pearl drums, percussion, and marching products.   For the 2013 Unity Tour, Chad Sexton will be relying on his breathtaking Reference Series drums to achieve the complete range of tones.  From the highs of his birch-laden 6”, 8” and 10” toms, through the maple-based mids of his 12” and 13” toms, and down to the chest pounding lows of his mahogany-based floor toms, bass drum, and gong drum, Chad’s Reference Series masterpiece covers all the bases necessary to complete 311’s entire catalog, along with covering the complexity of the band’s stellar and busy solo.  Chad’s full specs are as follow:
