Overview

Christopher Cruz is a Bronx, NY native whose interest in music has been long standing. Cruz gained an interest in playing percussion after meeting long time percussion idols Marc Quinones and Bobby Allende at the age of 13, who reffered him to the Harbor Conservatory of Performing Arts in New York City. At the age of 14, Christopher went on to study with master percussionist Johnny Almendra, who gave Cruz the nickname "EL GIGANTE". While studying at the conservatory, Christopher was introduced many well known musicians including percussionist Eric Velez, Ito Arguinzoni, Daniel Antonetti, Mark Lopez, Jeffery Lopez, and Harry Adorno. Adorno gave Cruz his first gig playing bongos for singer Cita Rodriguez. Since then, Cruz continues to perform with artist such as N'Klabe, Frankie Negron, Ray Bayona, Frankie Vasquez, and many more.
