Overview

Teddy Hall Jr. received his B.S. degree in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his MM degree in Instrumental Music Education with an emphasis in Percussion from the University of Mississippi. He has done further study towards a PhD in Muisc at the University of Alabama. Mr. Hall has served as Band Director with Tuscaloosa City Schools, Adjunct Instructor of Music (Percussion) at Stillman College, Alabama A&M University, Oakwood University and as Assistant Band Director and Coordinator of Percussion Studies at Hampton University and Tennessee State University. He has taught private drum lessons at Tuscaloosa Music Service and Arts Music Shop, and has presented percussion clinics for the Virginia/D.C. PAS chapter Day of Percussion, Memphis, Tennessee Public Schools, Florida A&M University, and Miles College.

Hall has performed with the Atlanta Music Project, UAB Community Winds (Birmingham, AL) West Side Winds and West Side Winds Jazz Orchestra ( Douglasville GA), TSU Faculty Jazz Combo, Salama Institute Community Orchestra, York River Symphony Orchestra (Yorktown,VA),Corinth Symphony Orchestra (Corinth, MS), the Festival Marimba Orchestra (recorded “live” at Eisenhower Hall Theatre in West Point, NY; March, 1998), the Hampton University Chamber Orchestra and with Royzell L. Dillard, baritone, in a faculty recital at Hampton University. During his time at Hampton University, Hall presented a Djembe Clinic at the Coliseum Mall, Hampton, Virginia (Feb. 2004), served as coordinator and host for the 3rd annual Hampton University Drum line and Percussion clinic featuring Johnny Lee Lane and Ricky Burkhead, (Mar. 2004), presented percussion master classes at the Barney E. Smart Summer High School Band Camp & Director’s Clinic (July 2004), and served as coordinator for drum set master classes and clinics featuring Terri Lyne Carrington and Ndugu Chancler.  His professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society and the National Association for Music Education, and his educational endorsements include Vic Firth, Mike Balter, SABIAN LTD., and REMO.
