Michael Spooner

Overview

Michael is the Percussion Director for North Shore High School in Houston, TX. His responsibilities include teaching all percussionists from grades 6-12 in the North Shore cluster. He is currently on staff with The Phantom Regiment and Monarch Independent. He attended Middle Tennessee State University, studying music education under Lalo and Julie Davila, and Matt Jordan. While at MTSU, Michael played in numerous ensembles, as well as teaching the MTSU drumline.

Michael was a member of The Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps from 2007-2009, and The Cavaliers from 2010-2011, earning The Fred Sanford Award for Best Percussion in 2011. After aging out, he has worked with several corps, including: The Crossmen, The Blue Stars, The Colts, and The Cavaliers, as well as Legacy Indoor Percussion and River City Rhythm. Michael has spent the last 10 years teaching high schools in many states from Minnesota, Tennessee, Indiana and now Texas. Most recently with Ben Davis and Brownsburg High School in the Indianapolis area.

Currently, Michael Lives in Houston, TX, where he is teaching, writing, and performing. Michael proudly endorses Pearl/Adams equipment.
