OverviewMichael D'Angelo is one of the top rising drummers of his generation. A native from Charlotte, NC, Michael began his curiosity with percussion at the tender age of 18 months old. He began formal classical and jazz percussion training with Rick Dior at the age of 11, and shortly thereafter, performed at the Modern Drummer Festival, New York City's Carnegie Hall, and was the recipient of the Symphony Guild of Charlotte's Marie Rowe Scholar, and the first percussionist to receive the Mariam Cannon Hayes Young Artist Award.
He is currently pursuing his Undergraduate degree at the University of North Texas in Classical Performance in Percussion and at the University has been a member of the UNT Percussion Ensemble, the Two O'Clock Steel Band, the Wind Symphony, the Two O'Clock Lab Band, and is now a current member of the One O'Clock Lab Band. Through the University, he was a featured member of the UNT Percussion Ensemble in their trip to Paris, France and in their performance at the Conservatoire de Paris.
He is represented by Pearl Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Vic Firth Drumsticks, and Remo Drumheads.
