Joe Smyth is not your average drummer. His work with country super group Sawyer Brown is outstanding, but that is only a small part of who he is. After obtaining his Bachelor's Degree from Berklee College of Music, he moved on to the University of Miami where he received his Master's Degree in Percussion Performance and Composition. As a classically trained musician, Joe's timpani, drum set and mallet skills earned him positions with the Miami Philharmonic, the Miami Pops, and the Brookline Symphony. It was not until 1981 that Joe took on the role of country drummer; an endeavor that has kept him busy for over 25 years.
