OverviewDr. David Glover is the Chair of the Music Department and Associate Professor of Percussion at Slippery Rock University in Western Pennsylvania. There he teaches applied lessons, percussion ensemble, music technology, jazz ensemble, percussion pedagogy and the steel pan ensemble (SRU Panorama). He received music degrees from The University of North Florida (BAE), The Florida State University (MM and MME), and the University of Texas at Austin (DMA).
A drummer and percussionist since he was 10, Glover has garnered a wide range of musical influences from jazz and classical music, to rock and Afro-Caribbean styles. Glover has played with a variety of gifted artists including; Nancy Wilson, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Arturo Sandoval, Joe Williams, Phil Woods, Bob Brookmeyer, Ivan Lins and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Peabo Bryson, Joe Lovano, Bill Watrous, Kenny Endo, Sandip Burman, and Rick Margitza. He can be heard on recordings from, The Wash, Latin Attitude, The University of Texas Jazz Orchestra, the acoustic jazz quartet Odd Man Out (Viewpoint Records), Azucar, The Three Rivers Jazz Orchestra (SeaBreeze Records) and Sheryl Bailey and the Three Rivers Jazz Orchestra (MCG Jazz).
Additionally, Glover has performed and adjudicated at several state, national and international music festivals as a performer, percussionist and conductor, has had articles published in Modern Drummer magazine and has been the Pennsylvania Chapter President of the Percussive Arts Society since 2008. David Glover performs with Pearl/Adams drums and percussion, REMO drumheads, Pro-Mark drumsticks and SABIAN cymbals exclusively.
