Warbringer - United States
Carlos Cruz was born in Reseda, California on September 24th 1990, into a family of Mexican heritage with a prominent musical background. Thanks to both his father and grandfather being professional Latin musicians, Carlos’ interest in music sparked at a very young age. Carlos’ first years of instruction involved learning all music content by ear, accompanied by hours of rigorous rehearsal.
In 2004, Carlos joined the percussion section of the Granada Hills, California Marching Band. Having over 250 musicians, the marching band placed 1st in several high profile marching competitions throughout the state of California and landed soundtrack performances in films like “Dogdeball: A True Underdog Story”.
Carlos’ formative years included performing with several upcoming Punk Rock and Heavy Metal groups throughout Los Angeles, finally landing an independent record deal with LA based, Progressive Metal band Hexen in 2008. After Hexen’s debut album “State of Insurgency” was released in the Summer of 2008, the band tour across the United States in its promotion. Hexen then signed to a larger international label for their follow up album, “Being and Nothingness”.
Parting ways with Hexen in 2010, Carlos is now performing with world-renowned Thrash Metal band Warbringer (Century Media Records). In 2011, the group entered The Omen Room Studios with Producer Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Symphony X) to record Warbringer’s third full-length album, “Worlds Torn Asunder”. Warbringer’s third album debuted at #11 on the Billboard “Heatseekers” charts and placed at #3 on heavy metal radio music charts for 4 weeks behind.
Since the release of “Worlds Torn Asunder” in September 2011, Carlos Cruz and Warbringer have maintained a grinding tour campaign across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, UK and Europe. Over the past ten months Warbringer have performed nearly 180 headlining and direct support concerts alongside various acts such as Arch Enemy, Iced Earth, Symphony X, and Destruction, solidifying their place as one of today’s premier Thrash Metal bands of the new decade.
