OverviewBobby Domings was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, a small suburb of Boston. Bobby was originally drawn to the drums by hearing concerts put on by the American Legion band in the common at the age of four. At age nine he was offered an opportunity to take drum lessons through his public school where he learned the basic reading and rudimentary skills. At age twelve Bobby received his first drum set for Christmas. At this time his mother enrolled him in private drum lessons with Mike Quinn, a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston and Drum Line instructor. During his teenage years, Bobby played in Drum Line, Jazz Band, and Symphony Orchestra Band within the public schools.
In 1985, at the age of 18, Bobby began teaching drum lessons at Mr. C's Music when Mike Quinn resigned. At age 19, Bobby met Jonathan Mover and studied with Jonathan for two years until Jonathan became the drummer for Joe Satriani. Jonathan then introduced Bobby to Gary Chaffee who taught him in 1989. Bobby also studied with Mike Mangini and Allan Dawson before moving to Los Angeles, California in 1990.
While in Los Angeles, Bobby began traveling to Phoenix Arizona to work with Noise International recording artist Nader D' Priest and one year later moved to Phoenix in 1991. In 1992 Bobby founded The Bobby Domings Drum Studios at Brindley's Music Center located in Chandler Arizona, a suburb on Phoenix. From 1999 up to the present time Bobby has focused most of his time on teaching, building up his drum studios, and maintaining excellent drumming skills by taking lessons himself from accomplished drummers such as legendary drummer Jim Chapin and Arizona State University percussion instructor Dom Moio. Bobby presently has 3 drum studios and has employed Aaron Bland, former student and now in college, as a drum instructor. Bobby has also been endorsed by Pearl Drums and Sabian Cymbals along with being a member of the Vic Firth private teacher program. Bobby also organizes and sponsors drum clinics featuring accomplished drummers Jonathan Mover and Mike Mangini.
